Podcast Episode 25

The One With The Instagram Bullshit

This week’s podcast is chock full of their everyday life. Between the pushy photog at the Solstice Parade and the Instagram shut down, this husband and wife team also have a little time to talk about kick- ass parenting, crap-ass parenting and JD’s “duh” moment. I appreciate you talking about parenting this morning. As you were talking I found myself saying to myself, “Wow, that’s what I do.” I am constantly “bullying” my 15 daughter with threats about taking away her phone or tablet because to me its the only thing she cares about and the only thing that seems to work. With her being 15, I hate that we can’t be as “close” as we used to because I feel like I have to be that terrifying parent and I do not want to be that person. I will be checking out this book and I appreciate you enlightening me!

This book is for you. I hated the fact that I feel like we all have to grow apart from our kids at this age. Everyone says teenagers don’t want to be around their parents, I am finding the opposite to be true. I find that they want to be around us, but we as parents aren’t equipped to handle what is going on because all we know is the big, bad, scary parent route and no one wants to be around that! And I think that is what causes the space between us all. I don’t know this it is so much the age or the need for space. I am not with my son 24/7, he has and loves freedom but I think they prefer to be around their parents, well you know, when we aren’t taking their shit away :) Good luck. I know I need it too.
